As you've probably already gathered from both my username and this section's title, my name is Erica. I tend to go by Eri, although my friends have come up with countless bizarre nicknames for me. These include Love Anchor, Aspartame Cupcake and Silly Goose. Insanity can be an asset and also a terrible thing, I'd say. I'm thirteen years old and in the tenth grade at the local high school.
I love music, specifically 'punk' I suppose. My favourite band is AFI, and has been for ages. I'm in mad high school-obsessed-'love' with the guitar player, Jade Puget. He is my one and only celebrity obsession. In my spare time I try to get on the computer and web design, but I also love reading and writing. I have a bad habit of cutting up everything I own to make collages and journal covers, as well. My favourite foods are pepperoni pizza and gold ribbon ice cream, and I hate chicken. Basically I'm somewhat crazy, always honest, and really outspoken... So average, these days, haha.
Well it's a fairly simple and somewhat boring story but I might as well share. Basically three to four years back I spent a lot of time just surfing around and reading peoples' blogs, and in a lot of them there was a constant mention of 'Today at DMB' or 'DMB is so great'. I didn't want to miss out on all the fun, so I joined!
I've met a lot of really great people through DMB, or just had online friends who happened to be members of DMB. Lately I don't really talk to online people as much for whatever reason, but I still treasure all the friendships I've had here. These include Meko, who doesn't really post much anymore, Hikaru, who's no longer a member, Julia, whom I consider to be one of my best online friends, Charm/Krissie who never fails to make me smile, and Hiei/Gracie... Who is honestly like a sister to me, through Christ and otherwise. DMB's such a great place to interact and get to know people, I only hope to make more friends over the years to come.
I have lots of really good memories about DMB. One of my favourites is when it was first switched over to DevBB ages and ages ago, and all the members basically had to start fresh. It was a really positive experience because everyone was just doing their best to help each other and the board itself out. I also really liked it about a month ago when I went on a random anonymous bucks-giving spree and got to see everyone puzzled, haha. But I'd have to say that the crowning moment of this year at DMB was when I was made a mod. That was just a wonderful surprise to me, especially since I was having such a rough summer.
I do my best, especially now that I'm a mod, to visit multiple times every day. I lurk around and read topics much more than I post, but it always interests me to see what's going on around the board and to share in member experiences.
Well I can't even come close to keeping track of the avatars I've used over the years, but here are a few that I can remember using on DMB.
1. The first thing you do when you get online is visit DMB.
9. You ask someone to u2u you in real life.
13. You've idolized certain prominent DMB members (eg. Dodo)
14. You've quoted phrases you found on DMB in your offline life.
19. When you try to get home early from school/work to check replies to a post you made earlier.
20. You have dreams about DMB and it's members.
21. You know almost everyone on the board on a first name basis...
22. You repeatedly visit DMB multiple times a day...even when you know there are no new posts. ex: leave computer because you are bored...come back two minutes later and come back to DMB.
24. You write/post more on DMB than on your own blog/journal.
28. You think to yourself "Oh boy am I obsessed with DMB".
31. You turn off your mp3 player just to listen to the members' voices on their profiles.
38. You log on DMB at school/work/friend's house, just so you can check on the new posts, even though you are supposed to be working/researching etc.
39. You go crazy when DMB is down.
43. When you come to a crisis and immediately ask DMB members for help.. EVERYTIME.
44. When you realise how talented all the DMB members are in different categories, and you suddenly feel proud that you belong here.
45. You bid in an auction and spend the rest of your sleeping hours worrying on whether you're going to win it or not.
54) When you see Dave Matthews Band merchandise, you immediately assume the "DMB" stands for Dodo's Message Board.
