My DMB History
How did you find DMB and why did you join?I honestly can't recall how I stumbled upon it at all. It was well over three years ago (I think) when Dodo was running it on Ikonboard. I joined because I was in a very board-y mood and it looked like an interesting place with lots of people. To be honest, I knew very little about message boards and online communities then.
How long have you been a member?
I rejoined the current DMB on June 2nd, 2002.
What is your favourite DMB memory?
The birth of DMB dollars and the FOR SALE forum. I love seeing what people put up and the whole process of bidding. It's very cool how we are using fake money for all these great exchanges!
How has DMB changed your life?
I don't know if DMB necessarily impacted my life directly because I don't post that often continously, but I have gotten to know more people online, closer to some, and seen many interesting web-design concepts.
If dodo was to shut down DMB what would you do?
I'd probably be sad because it's one of the biggest and most active forums I know online. Plus, Dodo puts extra care into it with all her hacking and whatnot. It's a very unique place!
Will you still be posting here for another two years?
Maybe not as much since I'll be out of college and not that much spare time? But who knows... I hope to still be involved in my many online community projects.
How's DMB different from some other boards you joined?
All the personal hackage by Dodo! I love the frenzied environment (new posts every minute practically) because there is always something new to read.
Did you make any friends on DMB?
Not a lot since I don't u2u people often, or go extra lengths to bridge a connection. I've already a lot of online friends, plus many DMB'ers are a lot younger than me so it's difficult to express common interests.
How often do you visit DMB?
It comes in spurts. Sometimes (like now), I visit it each time I get to the computer--which is a LOT, so a good dozen or so times a day. But then I can go months with barely one visit (just enough to keep me active). Depends on where I am, and what I'm doing.
Why are you making this page?
I wanted to mark my place in DMB history!
